My latest botanical interests are leaning heavily towards succulents and ferns. Ferns, in particular, remind me of childhood years spent in Western Washington when camping in the forests of the Cascades transported me to a magical land of make believe.
Upon seeing the fronds of a fern uncurling and stretching out it's green new-ness, I get giddy with those memories and reminisce about the deep earth smells of bark and moss.
