Pearls and Holiday Cheer

Happy Thanksgiving to all! May your belly be full and your heart be glad.  I adore Thanksgiving, as it serves as a good reminder to embrace, appreciate and share as we enter the winter holiday season.

I've returned to my old muse, the pearl, for inspiration.  I want to create classic jewelry that a girl can reach for season after season.  I think pearls are the loveliest, most wondrous treasure from the natural world.  So many shapes and colors can be created. Thank you Mr. Oyster.

metal, flame, and hammers and files. or forays into handmade earwires.

I have a torch. I have the metal. I would really, really love to make my own earwires and findings. I feel it would add an extra dimension to my handmade pieces, and give my designs an even more unique identity. So, one studio-Sunday afternoon I begin to play. I'm balling wire. I'm dipping it in pickle. I'm forging shapes with an anvil and hammer. I'm polishing and filing and smoothing....I'm having so much fun! I should have been doing this ages ago. I've started with three pairs of classically simple earrings. Beautiful pearls and semiprecious stones dropping from my new handmade earwires. Be on the lookout for more!

October Sky

A strangely warm evening lured me outside to breathe the almost-Halloween air and sky-gaze at dusk.
