Well hello.
It's been a while since my last entry. Hope you are well and having a lovely Spring!
The weather in my neck of the woods has been mild, wet and cloudy. The locals are groaning about the terrible conditions of May. "When will we see the sun, will it ever warm up!?", etc. My flowers and plants are much more appreciative of this cooler spring. I have the most gorgeous poppies this year! I have lilacs and violets that have never looked happier. The flowers all grow towards the sun, even if it is behind a few clouds.

Shades of Silver
Lately I'm just loving the dark patina that can be given to sterling silver. I love to brightly polish the raised bits while the dark lurks in the recessed areas of a wire wrap. For these earrings I kept it simple: longer handmade earwires with drops of color that are messily wrapped in silver. I think they are too sweet! Now available in my Etsy shop.

Blue Skies and Red Poppies
Has so much time really past since my last post?!
I am still here, embraced by early summers skies and warm breezes. This season has been really lovely so far-different, but lovely. For the last ten years I have had a booth at our local Farmers Market where I sell my handmade jewelry. This summer I felt I needed to regroup and take a breather. So, instead of late Friday nights and waking at 5:30 a.m. on Saturdays to get to market, I am sleeping in, lounging in my favorite vintage velvet chair and taking the time to have that second cup of coffee while I listen to the birds. I have so many projects I wish to explore. I look forward to creating as the whim strikes.
I do hope you are breathing the sweet blue air and getting to feel the summer grass tickle your toes.
I will leave you with a vibrant snapshot of my poppies. They were spectacular this year!

metal, flame, and hammers and files. or forays into handmade earwires.

I have a torch. I have the metal. I would really, really love to make my own earwires and findings. I feel it would add an extra dimension to my handmade pieces, and give my designs an even more unique identity. So, one studio-Sunday afternoon I begin to play. I'm balling wire. I'm dipping it in pickle. I'm forging shapes with an anvil and hammer. I'm polishing and filing and smoothing....I'm having so much fun! I should have been doing this ages ago. I've started with three pairs of classically simple earrings. Beautiful pearls and semiprecious stones dropping from my new handmade earwires. Be on the lookout for more!

DIY Inspiration

My latest botanical interests are leaning heavily towards succulents and ferns. Ferns, in particular, remind me of childhood years spent in Western Washington when camping in the forests of the Cascades transported me to a magical land of make believe.
Upon seeing the fronds of a fern uncurling and stretching out it's green new-ness, I get giddy with those memories and reminisce about the deep earth smells of bark and moss. This DIY idea from the geniuses at DesignSponge is a really beautiful way to preserve something you love, and decorate a lonely wall at the same time! Brilliant!

Thanks for making INDIE LOVE a success!
A big huge thank you to everyone who made our INDIE LOVE Holiday Trunk Show a success!
We saw friends come from far and wide to attend. Your support means so much! We had a treasure trove of vintage clothing, jackets, T's and shoes from Blue Window Vintage. GaBadges was there rockin her handmade buttons. They were all so great I had the hardest time choosing. Fabulously cheap art and collages by Angela. {Mine looks amazing on the walls of my living room, thanks, Angela!} And more vintage clothing and bags. And of course gobs of beautiful baubles from yours truly, Anne More. It was a great time to get a jump on Holiday shopping and also to have fun with your friends and maybe treat yourself to something fabulous. Thanks again to everyone who came!
We made the front page on Etsy!
The Dame Earrings were featured in a treasury that made front page on our favorite website-Etsy.com. Woo-hoo! Pyrite, Rock Quartz Crystal and sterling silver gleam brightly in these unique earrings.
Happy Holidays everybody!
